So I was invited to a 3-day over-night event at Duke University for admitted freshman undergraduate students (current seniors in high school, around 18 years old). On the second night there is a dinner & dance, and they said to bring "formal attire (coat and tie)." Obviously, people invited to this are coming from all across the US and would just be meeting eachother for the first time. I'm just wondering - in this situation, what would the proper etiquette be (particularly during the "dance" segment...)? I don't want to act antisocial or anything, but then again, I don't want to come off too strong and creep anyone out or act idiotically... so yeah, just wondering. Thanks!
