I've just been reading the list of Oscar nominees on the official site and the amount of movies that I've never even heard of before is really interesting and I consider myself a film buff. I've only checked out a couple of years - 1980 and 1981 and already I've found some movies to check out like The Great Santini or Resurrection. It's also interesting to see the movies that won the Oscars that are now forgotten about - Norma Rae for instance. It also proves how really unimportant they are in the scheme of things - I mean someone called Michael Gore won the best score Oscar in 1981 for Fame ahead of the great John Williams Empire Strikes Back - WTF
