Forgetfulness and lack of concentration!

Hey all, not sure where this kind of post would fit in so i'll stick it here for now.

Basically, I am 23 years of age and I have recently been noticing I am very forgetful and am having problems with my concentration. So many little things have been happening lately that I find difficult to explain, surely others in my age rage should not be having such problems. I am very happy in life, not much stress, I have a great job and a happy relationship. I've had no traumas in my life recently and feel I am getting plenty of sleep.

Here are a few examples of what I've been/go through, I keep forgetting tasks that my girlfriend sets me, even though they're little things and should be easy to remeraber. I also forget to take vital paperwork with me to work (every day this week I have forgotten), it is causing trouble for me and I cannot just keep saying "oh sorry I forgot", it is making me look unreliable. Other things as well such as, 3 times in the last several months I have flooded my kitchen floor as I'd completely forgot I left the tap running, and very recently, which was the final straw for me... I put diesel fuel in my petrol car! I mean, how can anyone be so durab as to do that!? (Me, I know). FrienRAB say that it was just a moments lack of concentration but to me, with the way things have been going, it feels like there's more to it than that. I also notice that I "stare into space" alot, however I'm told I've always been this way.

This is all putting strain on my relationship with my girlfriend, she thinks I just ignore her alot when really I forget what she tells me. I don't know what to do to be honest. I know as I am young there cannot be anything majorly medically wrong but it is still worrying when I look at the big picture and see so much is happening. It can't just be a coincidence that I keep consistently messing up when it comes to remerabering things and focusing on what I'm doing. What makes me more paranoid is that I am a healthcare assistant and I see these things all too often in the elderly I care for. Someone I ccare recently said to me that I have a terrible memory for my age, as you can probably tell from that remark, my problems are affecting my work too.

I need your opinions please...
