...done better than GM & Chrysler? Is it because they replaced management earlier? Is the union more reasonable at Ford? Are their cars that much better? Are they better at designing fuel efficient cars? In general, why is Ford demolishing GM and Chrysler? What did Ford do right when the other US companies were going bankrupt?

First of all, don't blame any problems on the unions. I work for a union and I'll tell you right now, we are the hardest workers you will ever see, and we deserve everything we ask for and then some. Secondly, Ford is winning because they are building cars Americans would want to drive. It's funny before the recession, I thougth Ford cars were a joke (and they were). "Who would drive a Ford car when you can drive something like a Subaru which is faster, mmore sporty, better looking, more reliable, and better fuel efficiency?" Well Ford IMO now has those things. Not saying they're better than Subaru's but they are in the same league as them now. And Ford is a north americn company. Even if the Subaru or Honda is slightly better, Ford is so close to them now I am willing to sacrifice to buy American, because it's barely a sacrifice now that Ford has improved so much. And that's why Ford is selling cars. Furthermore, they survived. That speaks volumes to that company, we can all respect that and see the value in that during a time when no one else is surviving.

Allot of people are mad about the bailout since Ford didn't take it people that still want to buy American will just buy Ford and no longer consider GM or Chrysler. That and looking at what Ford is offering in cars and comparing that to what GM or Chrysler is its really no contest Ford wins.

You would have to ask EVERY new Ford buyer, not just us on YA.

Some will say it's better cars.

Some will say it's loyalty to Ford.

Some will say they just liked a specific car over another, for no reason.

Some will say it was just a matter of a car in their price range, with the options they wanted.

Somewhere in the infinite number of different reasons.

Because, keep in mind, it's not the car maker that makes the difference. They could make the best cars in the world...but if no one buys them, they'll still go under.

So, it's a matter of why people bought them, not what Ford did differently.
