which one has had the cambelt changed? the cambelts should be changed at around 70k-80k miles or around every 6 years
do any come with service history? look at any service history that the cars have.
is there any scratches on the paint work? this will devalue your car if you resell it.
are the tyres bald? make sure that the tyres have plenty of tread depth on them.
is the clutch slipping? take the car for a test drive to see if there are any problems.

do you know anyone who knows about cars? take a person who knows about cars with you they'll be able to check the car out for you.

There are 2 cars I am looking at and I dont know what questions to check for!

One I know has had the cam belt changed...but how often/mileage should that have been done at and when will it need it again?

Both cars are identical
90,000 miles
X reg

however one has 6 owners Priced £1,095 MOT till December.

The other 2 owners priced £1,595 Mot until april 2011..and will take off £100 for 6mths tax
Thanks in advance for your answers

A common problem with them is the rear wheel arches rust on them. I bought one for my daughter an X reg 2000 facelift model 1.7 16valve with 80K miles 2 years ago for £1500 and it was in good condition with a service history. Timing belt and exhaust had just been renewed. The only thing that has gone on it was an ABS wheel sensor which I got off of Ebay for £30 new. Brilliant wee car to drive but make sure you use 5W30 fully synthetic oil in it as its a VVT engine and that is the oil stated for that engine. Parts are cheap as a lot is also used on the Fiestas.
