Ford Mustang Problems?

I bought a 1970 Ford Mustang with a small block 302.Someone was setting the car up for drag racing but had no idea what they were doing.It has a stock electronic distributor but they pulled the stock electronic distributor box off and wired in an MSD box and MSD coil.They also put a points system distributor car on the electronic distributor.The car will start and drive but after about half a mile it starts cutting out really bad.Any ideas?Also the car takes off fine but every time your run it hard,like drag racing,when it shifts gears it feels like the rear end kicks sideways.I checked leaf springs,axles,traction bars,U-bolts and leaf spring bushings.Also pulled it down on the highway and power braked it while someone watched the rear end and they said the rear end was not moving.It has a Ford 9" rear end.Any ideas there?
 
it could be something as simple as reversing the wires on the coil, or back to square one and start all over..
