I got a 66 mustang with a built 347 stroker around 450 hp. Iv'e been having an overheating problem, ever since I bought it. It had a copper/brass stock radiator in it. So I replaced the raditor with an aluminum 3 row core radiator from championcooling and the radiator is suppose to cool up to 850 hp. But beofre I did all these mods to my car my car would overheat idling, but when it was going down the road at highway speeds it was fine. Just idiling is my problem. I have since put a new thermostat in it as well. And my stock mechanical fan thats on my car was sorta bent up, but even when it was right, it wouldn't keep it cool enough at idle. So I have opted to put an electric fan on my radiator. Is a electric fan better at cooling the radiator than a mechanical fan? please help? Whats the advantages and disadvantages of both. Thanks.
