Why do peole think DOHC engines are good?? Dont people realize you cant make power with heads that have small intake and exhaust ports so Ford fixes this by throwing a power adder on to make the same power a factory N/A gm LS engine makes WITH THE CAM IN THE BLOCK! Fords trying to bring back the 5.0 now and they are keeping it DOHC?? Are you kidding me? They will not make any power without an adder, the technology is JUNK when it comes to performance engines..use it on daily driven 4 and 6 cylinders thats the only place DOHC belongs!

you make as much sense as a pushrod in a Ferrari.. pushrod engines (ohv) are antiques and one of the reasons General Motors went bankrupt..

The overhead cam engines have much more power potential simply due to having less valvetrain mass to move around. That's why the SOHC ford 427 big block was dominating the drag strip back in the early 60's. As far as lack of power without power adders, keep in mind that BMW has TINY DOHC V8's that have as much power as larger LS engines. Just as Fords new 5.0 will do. Just because GM has the kind of engineers that can't keep up with the new more effective ways of packaging valvetrain for efficiency and performance, doesn't mean the tech isn't better. Remember GM is the same crowd that decided it was a good idea to mount the starter under the intake and the battery under the washer reservoir. I can understand why the geniuses that work for them stick to old technology, wouldn't want to confuse them by putting the cam somewhere they don't expect to see it on a V8.
