Ford fiesta flame engine light?

My girlfriend has a problem with her 05 plate ford fiesta flame, on the way home yesterday the engine light came on, flashed for a little while then stayed and has continued to stay lit.

At the same point the engine seems "struggle" with periodic drops in revs, when the car is at rest, like it needs to clearsome bad fuel or water from the system.

The car is currently sat, and were thinking of bringing it to garage, but hey I'd thought I'd ask you lovely people to see if it is something simple.

it's gone into limp home mode and needs to be put onto a diagnostics machine to find out what the problem is.

Could possibly be an o2 sensor or the egr valve. Take it to a local parts store and make them scan it for you.
