Ford Fiesta 1.6tdci 2006 cylinder head problems?

I have a 2006 fiesta tdci and it has been leaking from the head. several trips to the garage have linked the problem to a faulty cam changer which is part of the head. My local ford garage say the only real fix is to replace the head which comes as a complete unit including valves, etc
The repair is extremely expensive costing around £1500 which the garage has accepted it will cover under warranty.
I Have 61000 miles on the car and feel it should be good for many more.
The fix will be by a ford main dealer with genuine parts. My concerns are that it may affect my cars performance and fuel economy. I have been told by a few peple that effectively I'm getting a new engine and this is a good deal as it will extend the life of my car making the engine like new.

I would welcome any advice about whether this is likely to be a benefit to me espescially the life of the engine etc.

Thanks

No, you are not getting a "new" engine by technical standards. I dont know the exchange to US dollars at which I do believe I am in here.
I recommend that you take this car and go to your local auto shop where you reside, see if he could do this under the warantee and maybe it would cost you less. By all means, check around first, Dont lay your money on the first dealership, nor the first reapir station.
