i have a 2007 2WD ford explorer. i got it about a year ago, and it has been fine. recentley, it has been acting up. about a month ago, a light came up, which was a little orange wrench. once the light came on, the car started driving strangely; it would make a sound when i stopped that sounded like someone was falling out from under the car, and when i tried to accelerate, it felt like it was gliding almost. i looked up the light in the owner's manual, and it told me it was the signal for a powertrain malfunction and to see my nearest dealer. i live in a small town, and the nearest dealer is an hour away. i took it to the "shop," which is where everyone in my family takes their cars when somethings wrong; they are usually pretty good. the people there ran a computer check on it, and said it was completely fine.

i took their word for it, and started driving it normally. for about two weeks it was fine, but then the little wrench started coming up again, and would go away once i turned the car off and on again. for the past four days, the "check engine light" has come on, and stayed on. the wrench will sometimes pop up when i stop at a stop light or have to accelerate. the check engine light may be due to the fact that i was suppost to change my oil four days ago.

can anyone help me with the orange wrench?! what do i do?
