my wife's 2002 ford expedition, I'll try & make this short:
a few months ago the cruise control stopped working. no biggie, didn't care all that much. then one day last week the car wouldn't shift out of park when you started it - you had to kill the car, move the key to the halfway position, put the car in "N", *THEN* start it and ONLY THEN could you get it into drive (brake/shift interlock?)
ok so I checked all the fuses - one was blown: a 5A fuse in the 15th position. i replaced it. viola! then both the brake/shift interlock AND the cruise control worked! awesome. drove the car for 3 weeks no problem.
until today. brake/shift interlock won't work again, cruise won't work again. checked fuse-its blown again. replaced it again with another 5A fuse ...immediately blown.
ok so...if I want to try & fix this myself...whats my next step? I read somewhere about a "speed control deactivation switch". could this be the problem? where is it? can I just go buy another one?
thanks in advance all you mechanic-type people! great respect for your knowledge!
