My 2002 Ford Expedition is making a horribly annoying racket..It sounds like metal vibrating on metal, it gets worse (higher pitched) when the air conditioning is on. The sound seems to be coming from the front driver side area. Took it by a mechanic but of course it decided to choose that time to be silent...Has progressed to pretty much constant noise with alternating moments of getting worse..like a chirping, vibrating, squeal..It has been suggested by a few people that it could be a loose heat shield..What could it be?? Is it the heat shield? If so, is there more than 1 in my vehicle? Where are they located and where would the bolts to tighten them be located?? I can't handle this noise anymore. It's driving me nuts!!!l lol. please give me a suggestion! BTW, DO NOT TELL ME IT is my engine knocking/needs oil/ transmission probs,etc..They ARE not the problem.
Something sounds loose somewhere, but my vehicle is fine, all fluids are fine, belts are fine, etc..
Starry Night..The serpentine belt? How would I tighten it if that is the issue?
Please include at least a little more details with your answers, please. I appreciate any suggestions, but need a little more direction.
