hi all
ive got prolems with my steering on my escort
its pulling to one side then bouncing to the other side
my garage said it needed new tracking rods then retracking
so i had that done
and two new tryes because they had worn down on the sides
and the car is the same if not worse
the problem gets worse if you go over 30mph
ive also had new wish bones
with the car like this the car is a death trap
and im ment to be taking my family on holiday at the end of the month
but cant go now as the car is unsafe
id be realy greatfull for any advice

That sounds more like a problem with the power steering itself. When you turn the wheel it causes the power hydraulics to operate but they seem to be doing this on there own suggesting something is loose. The drive shaft idea is not impossible.
The tyre wear on one side was almost certainly a tracking problem but could be a bad camber angle setting at the front. I would get that checked as well as it could just be causing the problems you describe.

I don't own a Ford (and NEVER would) but - A friend of mine owns an Escort and she had a similar problem.....she was told the same as you - tracking rods. NOPE!!

Turned out to be the Drive Shafts had gone - might be the same thing!!!

They had broken inside and the teeth or spiral part (whatever you call it) worn away and left a big gap between the sections and that made itlurch to one side

Not saying it is that but it sounds similar to her car probs.....
