ford escape 2001 questions?

my ford escape 2001 has been driving great except the last year or so. the catalytic converter needs to be replaced because all the pressure keeps blowing my egr. has anyone had this problem? and should i get a after market catalytic converter like eastern for example? or should i just sell this just ( out of fear of more problems)
 
I worked for a Ford Dealership for 5 years. I heard nothing back about the Escape except for it being light weight. If you have no extended warranty I would go with aftermarket converters. Cheaper and better than Factory in most cases. If that's the only problem that you've been having with your Escape I would keep it unless you want something newer.
