Ford Connect 1.8 TDCI Tourneo LHD Speedo Change to MPH?

I've got a LHD Spanish 2006 Ford Tourneo which I want to re-register in the UK. To do this, I need to go through the IVA process (I have no Certificate of Conformity). So, the thing is that to get the vehicle acceptable for UK roads, I'll need to change headlights - no problem with that. However, I also need to change the speedo to MPH (or at least dual display) as there's only KMH on there now. So, my options are to either get a sticky fascia from Lockwood (and break off my needles probably) or get a 2nd hand cluster from a breaker and install that for the IVA. Consequently, this all starts to get complicated as once I get into a new cluster, I believe we're talking about having to reprogramme the ECU with the associated costs. I've seen however, there's a diagnostic mode which displays the speed in MPH on the digital display, which would be just fine (digital speed indication in MPH is sufficient for the IVA). I've checked that the tEst mode works and it works exactly as it says.

Does anyone know if this diagnostic mode can be maintained or if you switch into diagnostics, it displays it for a bit, then reverts back to normal mode?

I only need it to last during the IVA test. After that, I don't care (speedo markings and KMH/MPH indications are not tested in the MoT).

Any thoughts anyone?
