Ford 300 Inline 6 Motor Problems.. HELP!?

dont think it will be timing chain i'm pretty sure 300 i6 is a gear on gear mesh no chain. Could be cracked head, block or headgasket. I would start by doing a compression test.

as for question 2 it all depends how much damage was done. You might be better off buying a used working motor and rebuilding it.
 
I have a 1980 Ford 350 box truck with a 300 engine in it. We were going down I-75 and we lost power to the truck and the truck over heated. Waited to engine cooled off and tried to crank it and wouldn't. Had to it towed to my house. Bought plugs to see if they have fouled but hadn't did it yet. ( will tomorrow ) My dad says it could be the timing chain or the plugs. But also we looked at the radiator and it was empty but we had filled it up that day before we left. Don't know if it blew out or went to the engine. So my question is do you know from what I described you what could be wrong and another question how much would it be rebuild the motor.
