Forbidden Topics...

Everybody for their own reasons but. The most music I downld are live material that is unavailable commercially. I already have 'all' of that band's albums. I can't get enough.

Music is not the only thing shared on the net. There's art in all its digital forms. Poetry, etc.

As far as music goes, as far back as recording devices were available bootleg recordings & copies were being made. And that goes long before audio cassette tapes. Just a few thoughts.

Are you a shooter? Editor? Graphic artist? Does any of what you do end up available for free download?

And JFTR, how would you feel if something you created ended up in someone else's work without attribution. Or even with it?

FYI...I'm an advertising writer/producer by trade.

I believe Peerless & I are also 2 that can be categorised in that group of offering our own works. I'm aware of other members who do the same. But you're probably right. Particularly with those who come to LW after being attracted by a scam site that offers free downlds of multimedia after paying a subscription but end up with a free version of LW or another p2p app or some variated version of the same code.

Theft of my ideas & work has happened before. And since I'm so small time it doesn't really matter to me anymore ... well I do feel PO when it happens. In earlier years with other types of work it really PO'd me!
The video stuff I do is the whole kabang so to speak. Editing, processing, fx, any xtras that might add to it. One of my comrades from university worked on Lord of the Rings, I don't quite know how I missed that opportunity. Small time suits me I guess ... no office demands. My times are all over the place ... lol

Mostly music. We've both had experience in bands & bands creating their own music. But then, there's also video art I do. I am trained as a graphics artist (amongst other things) including multimedia.

That is some pretty heavy stuff that is in that post. Alot of opinions which we are free to "distribute"

I won't do that only because I am new to this site and I have just realized that I made a big " no no" asking for some help about LW

I have been paying through the nose for music on the net and most of the time gotten ripped, I know gullible but, today is my first day and I love to hear all of the sides to every story, and if my post has offended or gone over the line because I asked some newbie questions I am sorry.

But the thing is there is nothing better than a good debate.

Thanks guys learned more from your thread than any other

Ah, Less Paul... What would Merry Ford think of you ?

While your comments may suggest to others that you are highly knowledgeable about p2p and specifically Gnutella Network p2p, you belie the fact that you are not aware that these are not the LimeWire Forums.

These are the Gnutella Forums catering to the majority of Gnutella Network clients.

My comment now is not meant to be excessively pedantic... But, when one chooses to spouteth-off, one should check a few facts first, what ?

No point in bashing away at LimeWire for alleged hypocrisy whilst ignoring the nature of the Gnutella Network.

You may also be entertained (if not educated) by perusing the numerous and excellent posts here written by LeeWare and others.

Ahhh...ursula!

Replace the name of the two networks and all else remains the same.

I am new to this forum...not file sharing.

Now then...at the risk of "spouting off," tell me where I'm wrong.

;-)
