Yes, it does though I should say that it doesn't make me mad necessarily, but it has me worried about where we are as a country.
It makes you ask yourself what is going on with our society. What has happened to our youth where everything is about them and their wants and needs?
There is nothing wrong with trying to make life better for yourself and taking care of your priorities, but when you sign up to do a job and swear an oath to do so, it shows a lack of maturity and character as a human being to try to weasel out of it.
There are those who I think have legitimate reasons, and then there are those who are just whining kids.
For example, there was a story a while back of an Army Reservist who had deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan a total of 4 times. He had a new wife and he owned his own business. After 4 deployments, his business was nearly ruined and he was trying to get his life started after such a long time so when the military tried to deploy him for a 5th time, he put his foot down and begged them flat out that he be allowed to stay.
After a lengthy legal battle, many hearings, and some bad publicity for the Army, they honorably discharged him for "undisclosed medical reasons," allowing him to stay home. This is an example of someone who had a legitimate reason for not wanting to deploy. This man had done his part, served his country, and all but sacrificed his business and family in order to do so. All this when there are tens of thousands of others who have never deployed even once. You can read about it at the link below.
This is in stark contrast to the kid who gets all the benefits form "serving" but the minute the world deployment is mentioned, cries out "but I only did it for the college money!"
