Okay, so I just had my second fusion 8 days ago and it triggered my period. It started today and wasn't due for a couple of weeks. The same thing happened with my first fusion. It triggered my period 2 weeks early, within the first week post op. I have had 2 other surgeries and this didn't happen, although the other surgeries weren't as big and invasive. With my first fusion, I kind of thought it happened because it was a 360 and my uterus had to be pushed out of the way a little. But this time he only went through my back. In the hospital last week I asked the nurse about it and if it might happen again, and she said it should actually delay my period.
Has this happened to anyone else? I am so annoyed because now I have to deal with this AND my post op pain!!! GRRR!:mad:
 
Jeez meggs you have been dealt really crappy hanRAB. 1st pain control and now this. It will be a thing in the past very soon. I am 55 and am past menopause so that certain inconvenience doesn't effect me. But I am 2 weeks post op 360 fusion and have found that my back is really sore now. I guess all the anethesea wore off but I am not in any kind of pain that you explain. I too have permanant nerve damage in my legs and they ache and pain me often. I am still taking vicodin 3 or 4 times a day and that usually nurabs everything for me. Hope your days will get better soon. Sometimes it gets me depressed to just sit or lay here with nothing to do. But I am looking forward to the Spring when my walking is better. Stay well and hope your meRAB are finally working.

That nurse doesn't know what she's talking about. Any major surgery can throw off anything and everything else in your body. I got my period early, too. It was a huge pain in the neck, but there's nothing to do but deal with it. At least you'll be done with it for a month now. Yuck! I'm sorry you've ended up with yet another thing to top off all your pain! :(
