For the aspiring authors, why do you write?

I was just curious as to why people write? It's a hard job being a writer. You work hard on a novel with no guarantee that it will be published, and unless you are really good there isn't good money. Yet we still try.

Me, I don't know why I write. It's almost like a necessity. I see something or hear something that triggers a story and unless I write down the idea it just plays over and over in my head. Even as I write this, the story I'm working on is tugging for my attention.
I know that I might not ever get published and if I do I may not make good money, but for some reason I don't care and wouldn't give up writing for any thing.

So what keeps you trying, why do you write?

many reasons. one of them is, if i dont write it, my characters will get mad. haha another is because i start to feel bad. I mean, there's this idea in my head and if i cant write it down, i feel as if i lost something Precious. even if it wasn't that good, im sure i can polish it up to sound better.

frankly, there are many reasons. read my other answers and you'll get it.

There's a joke that I used to tell my friends all the time: "You'll be sorry when I'm a bestselling author and you're the bank clerk that cashes my million dollar check!"

But, in all reality, I don't write for money. I've never been published. (Then again, I'm too lazy to actually try.) I write for myself. Because it is a very self-satisfying activity that gives me the opportunity to be me. Just me. Alone, in my own little worlds.

I write because it's my calling. Because, if I don't, it feels like my head will explode with all these ideas that bounce around inside my head all day.

Because, as cheesy as it sounds, I think it's what I was born to do.

I write because it fun and there's characters I care about who I just can't not write about. It's an escape into a world which is only yours.

i am still a teenager and i only write for fun... but i write to escape the problems of the real world... it's way better inventing a world of my own... where i am the creator and everythiing seems so much more simple.

hope this helps :D

For me, I believe, I like writing because I control what happens in the story and, even though the readers might not, I always understand it all. It's nice when life gets really confusing or difficult to be able to do something that isn't unpredictable.

BUt also, I like writing because it shows my creativity. It makes me excited when I think of a really good idea for a story. I swear I'll be jumping up and down telling anyone in my family that wants to hear my AMAZING story idea ha-ha. Then when I right it down it's like YES! =) Yeah, That's me.
