...service by a store, restaurant? or other business do you make sure you also send a comment-especially to the person responsible for the pleasant experience? Many stores will recognize that person for the job well done...even if it's an e-mail on the bulletin board.

I try to do that anytime I feel have been given extra ordinary service. If the service is from a waiter or waitress I make sure to leave a tip that expresses my thanks.

if the waiter/waitress gives me shi*ty service I make sure to give her a $0.01 tip so she can feel dry.

if I get pleasant service I give them a nice tip, i thank them.

For good service in a restaurant, the waiter/waitress usually gets a thanks and a great tip. For poor service, we don't usually say much and give an average tip. For good service in a business or store, we always say, "Thanks for being so helpful!" for poor service...well it makes it hard to buy something if you can't get the help you need. I don't say anything, but go to another store. I think when store managers or owners recognize their workers for good work, it encourages other employees to work harder. Satisfaction is a job well done.

Not many people, but some people do write when someone does well or gives good services. I worked for a department store in the Northwest which is now part of Macy's. We'd have morning rallies and one day the manager read a letter that went to the corporate HQ in Portland talking about the great service she got from the "tall colored lady with the short hair"... well, I was the only woman in the store who fit that description...too bad she didn't take the time to find out my name, but the fact that she was being nice and praised my service I overlooked it.
