For people who own a 1996 Ford Explorer?

Ok, so I bought a 1996 Ford Explorer off of a friend about a month ago. The thing is, he didn't tell me what kind of gas it takes so I have been putting "Premium" in it. Does anybody know exactly what kind of gas this vehicle takes? I heard that if you keep putting the wrong gas in a car, it will mess up the engine.

Premium will not hurt your engine, I run mine on regular most of the time, but with the crappy gas we're getting now days, I sometimes use the middle grade, 89 octane..
 
Look in your owner's manual. What it tells you to put in, put in it. If it calls for low octane, never put high in and viceversa.
