for people who eat/know about cooked mussels?

i really like them, and always eat them fully cooked.
can anyone tell me what that large green bulge is on the end?
i love these, but always wonder about what that really is.
its on all of them, all the time, so i know it isn't just a bad one or anything like that.

i just really hope it isn't anything to do with its digestive system HAHA.
 
I think what you are talking about is/are called green lips mussels compared to the black shelled ones.....Mussels are my favorite too , especially with spaghetti. MMMMMMMMMM or any other way that you fix them is good too.
