From watching movies from the 50s and 60s, and documentaries about that time, everything seemed so glamorous. Even films about poor children and poor families have such a sense of nostalgia- was the glamour or the nostalgia I perceive ever really there? Or does it just SEEM glamorous because of the glamour movies present, and simply nostalgic because it's old, and from a time I never lived in? Because entertainment, culture, music etc seems so cheap today, I sort of wish I was born at another time...
Obviously not everything was good, there was a lot of oppression for much of society (racism, homophobia), but, in terms of culture, how were things different? Maybe everything was more colourful BECAUSE of oppression (not for everyone, but for some).
