For or Against Gay Marriage

The DOMA is a Federal law, so your state does have a DOMA. DOMA says that a state doesn't have to recognize another state's gay marriage, not that they can't have gay marriages in their own state.

Redefining what constitutes a marriage through judicial fiat doesn't count, IMO. Equal protection was never intended to cover such a perversion of the law.

If you consider calling judicial activism what it is, then I guess I'm guilty. We have a very clear definition of marriage today, one man, one woman, to attempt to use fair faith and credit arguments to justify illegal unions is absurd.

In YOUR opinion.

Wrong again. I've given lots of numbers and references to back up my claims.
I've given mortality numbers, Federal costs of treating AIRAB and a host of others. I suggest that you go back and do some rereading before making false assertions about what I did or didn't do.

Show me where I put down gay people. I've stated many times that I don't care what they do as long as it doesn't impact me or my family. I wouldn't call that putting them down. I even said that I would favor civil unions that gave gays all of the non-fiscal rights that married couples enjoy. Was that putting them down? Or was I putting them down when I said that the gay lifestyle decreased their average life expectancy and supported the claim with CDC statistics?
I suggest that you rethink your blanket statements in the future. They don't stand up to scrutiny.

No. For me peversity defined is hate.

Go read the Bible again. God doesn't hate homosexuality more than any other sin - and unless you are sinless, you might want to mind the judgments.

Did you know that Jesus did not mention homosexuality even once in the gospels? - but I can think of at least three instances where he warned against passing judgement on others. He also said that every other law was hinged upon loving God and loving each other. Your hate doesn't fit.

I would wager that the average gay person fears people like you more than they fear "god". Intolerance and bigotry...great christian virtues there! :xgood:

I don't think homosexuals should have to go through all the hassle to be together. My argument spawns from two different viewpoints: marriage should be about uniting two people who are in love and secondly, the government should be more focused on other problems. Gay marriage is not a problem or a negative issue. It is just an issue because alot of people have hate in their hearts. I agree that people can have their own opinions, but not every opinion has to be voiced or even listened to. Let people live their lives the way they want.

It's a problem for gay people, because that is not who they want to marry. You know, this argument was tried to stop inter-racial marriage. They said as long as black people can marry someone within their race, they have the same rights as white people. As long as straight people act gay, I have no problem.

That doesn't answer my question. If civil unions are so great, why don't straight people give up their right to marriage and instead have civil unions? Could it be that civil unions do not have the same social significance and recognition factor?

What are the other issues involved in your view? Is it the majority has the right to oppress the minority? To have equal civil rights, you must believe in the God I believe in?

I have told no one what to do, think or feel at any time. I don't have that kind of power over anyone. All that I have done is quote the Bible and stated my opinions on various subjects. You are delusional if you think that I can command people to think and act as I instruct them. Your problem is the fact that you are a liberal who can not see the truth. Now go sit down and compose yourself.

I blame them both, but ultimately, it's the woman who HAS to agree to have an abortion.

Not too many years ago, illegitimacy was a ticket out of the house for an unmarried inner city girl. In addition to Welfare were all sorts of housing, food, and other gov't programs tailored to the neeRAB of poor single moms. Why do you think illegitimacy grew to >50% in inner cities?

Oh yes, the flood that left no trace of ever occuring. Gotta fear the threat of nothing! I'm so afraid of a flood that never happened!

As for Sodom, well, I practice good hospitality. I don't know about you.

You know, God isn't going to be happy when you keep limiting its power by calling it a "he" all the time. God is limitless, it has no gender.

If any old union will do, why can't that union be marriage? I also notice that most of those in this forum who believe in some other type of union for gay people, are quick to threaten that gay people will get nothing if gay people don't accept less than the straight people have.

Hopefully, this is the last bastion of the civil rights movement and like it or not, S/S marriage will be happening, hopefully in my lifetime. Only because this is an issue you donot understand, you want to deny the rights you take for granted, from others.
