For all Ford Falcon Experts?

I own a 1962 Ford falcon. In my engine compartment there is a small bucket that is used to fill the over flow from the radiator. This bucket is made of plastic, and its dirty, and ugly, and i wanted to know if it was an original feature, or weather or not they used the plastic bags that were used as windshield washer fluid reservoirs. Thanks! Rob

The plastic reservoir is not original, however there were many kits available in the late 60's, early 70's to install one available from the aftermarket. I have owned a few 60's and early 70's cars that had aftermarket overflows on them when I bought them. The bags would not be a good idea, since you would not want the hot radiator water to be in the bags, many were a plastic or vinyl material, not intended for high temps. I have seen some people retrofit the later plastic factory reservoirs to use as the overflow. My dad has a '69 Ranchero where a previous owner did just that.

It didn't come with a overflow kit, they are available aftermarket. It might have come with the washer bag if it has the Ford logo on it..but never used as a radiator overflow..
