do you kind of agree that over the years Manchester United have done just that - used their reputation and history to influence and bribes to bend officials in their favour ?

What I mean is - are referees still, to this day - more likely to think 10 times before sending a United player off as opposed to any other player from any other club ?

It certainly has been that way - or was in the 90s and early 2000's.

maybe to become a 'big club' we need to be able to have a fear factor over refs and officials - in that they'd rather not show a red to your player in fair of retribution from the fans and media - much the same way referee's hesitate to pull out the straight red over the yellow for United stars.

makes you wonder sometimes if clubs have lost out on the title to Whiskey Nose and his bandits because of poor match officiating.
