Hello everyone!
I did something REALLY stupid and did not check the date to what I didn't know was a two month old (expired Nov 2010) spicy mayo into a sandwich I had ate 2 weeks ago. I did not know what it was while I was suffering from some painful abdominal cramps, diarrhea the same night and vomited once. I was too nauseated to eat or think of food every since I had to force the vomit that night because I couldn't sleep and it felt like my body wanted to vomit but it just didn't happen. I was relieved once I did that. I didn't eat for almost 2 days. Started eating slowly later by the 3rd day. I thought it was a stomach virus.
This Sunday I fell ill again. Except this time I don't know if I ate the mayo this time or not AND there was no vomiting but a lot of diarrhea, watery. This went on for almost 2 days, the third it was beginning to get back to normal. Today's the 5th day and I seem to be fine.
So my question is, (yes i know I'm stupid, I'm usually pretty careful and am the only one out of the house who checks the fridge for expired materials to throw out because no one ever does) AM I REALLY FINE? Should I be worried? I read up on Listeria and I'm freaked out =/ It says that those with lower immune systems normally show the symptoms I do after food poisoning/Listeria infection. A friend of mine ate the same thing and had mild diarrhea and was fine the next day. No big deal there for him. So I'm not even sure if it's all due to the mayo, or the 1st or 2nd time symptoms are tied or not, or if I really do have a lowered immune system.
