Food Network?

I tuned in to Cupcake Wars. Watched a couple women who I would be afraid to
cconfront in a dark alley making cupcakes. But at least people actually
make cupcakes while I doubt anyone will make sea urchin and sweetbreads for
dinner. FoodTV is the worst. And now that Alton Brown has had his hours
cut back I simply never watch it anymore.

MythTV is a hobbiest/freeware competitor for the Tivo. It runs with no
monthly charge. In exchange you need to be a computer hobbiest. I make
my living in computers so I could handle all that. I'd rather pay the
$25 for the monthly subscription for our 2 Tivos (huh, $25 actually
costs $25 for them. What happened to the taxes andother surcharges?)

It uses a card in the PC. No idea if that requires a subscription from
the cable company. Probably.

But you didn't answer my question. Fox is a private enterprise (which
according to what I can find doesn't employ Limbaugh) and as far as I
know has no line item in the Federal budget as did PBS. So since we are
funding PBS why shouldn't we include a line item for Limbagh?

Please let us know how it goes. I've wanted to at least go to St.

I realize this - and have very much enjoyed the shows I've seen - but
using Froot Loops as part of a dessert - I don't think so. What top
(reputable, non-sponsored by the manufacturers) restaurant chef on the
planet would use Froot Loops as an ingredient in a dessert, may I humbly
ask?

Now who's bullshiting. You have no idea what goes through the mind of
a person with a CCW. Your assertion that anyone who pulls a gun in a
possible gunfight is playing just shows you haven't a clue what you're
talking about.

Tylers Buttermilk Biscuits
Recipe courtesy Tyler Florence, 2007
Ingredients
? 4 cups all-purpose flour
? 2 teaspoon salt (I cut it to 1tsp)
? 1 tablespoon baking powder
? 2 teaspoons baking soda
? 1 cup vegetable shortening, cold, cut into 1/2-inch pieces (I use butter)
? 1 1/2 to 2 cups buttermilk, plus additional for brushing
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Sift together the flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Cut in
the shortening using a pastry blender or your hands or a stand mixer
fixed with a dough hook until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make
a well in the center and add 1 cup buttermilk. Using your hands, quickly
fold the dry ingredients into the buttermilk until a sticky dough forms.
You may need to add more buttermilk.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Gently fold the dough over
itself 3 or 4 times to create layers. Press the dough out to 1
1/2-inches thick and cut with a floured 3-inch biscuit cutter. Lay the
biscuits on an ungreased cookie sheet and brush the tops with
buttermilk. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until risen and golden brown.

Pixelation is horrible! I had that on my one TV for the longest time. It
wasn't on all of the channels and for the most part we were getting the
channels we usually watched. But then I finally got fed up and decided that
since I was paying for it, I should be able to get all of the channels. So
I called the cable company. Turns out the box was bad. It was old.

Amazing how you conveniently fail to include the cost of hardware, and
after using that same point in growing food. tsk tsk....

I can see you are jes in the mood to argue. Sorry, but I already have

Well, afaik, cupcakes are like regular American cakes, only made for 1
person.

It is hard for me to appreciate the differences between various
American cupcakes and birthday-style cakes. Being a Russian, I am used
to so much variety and layers of complex textures and flavors in the
Russian/Ukrainian tortes that all those cupcakes and regular cakes on
Food Network look highly primitive.

If I could, I would do the following: ask the best cake bakers from
Food Network to cook their best cakes, in parallel go to Brooklyn and
get 10 or 20 different Russian-style tortes, bring them to the Food
Network studios, and have them compare....

Yeah, well there are log cabin republicans too. There's no accounting for
the degree to which some people can be conned into acting against their own
best interests.

The far right racists know they can't say it overtly any more, so they've
developed social code. Birtherism and continually suggesting through
innuendo and outright lies that there is something Muslim the president is
keeping secret about himself is all just social code for "no blacks allowed
no matter how unfair we have to be to keep them out." And in general, the
anti-muslim crap is also about being fair to all religions as long as they
aren't muslim.

So far the worst act of domestic terrorism ever has been perped by a couple
of "christian" white supremacists.

Funny that a loser has excelled all his life in everthing he touched and won
an election to the presidency. You have a funny definition of loser. And a
lot of people do indeed condemn him for his race and so never give him a
fair chance at anything, not even at having a legitimate birth certificate
like everyone else who was born in this country.
