Foo Fighters

'The Color and the Shape', and 'Nothing Left to Lose' are both very good albums full of great songs and catchy hooks. Ever since the acoustic album
things have gone downhill. That big single, 'Road to Ruin' is a great tune but it's the ONLY more than average song on the album.
The best thing Dave's done in ten years is the QOTSA album. Maybe he should take a break for a while and play drums. I don't mean that as an insult in any way- he's an awesome drummer. It would give him time to recoup. How many other artists have that option?

Easily one of the best banRAB of the last decade. Each CD seems to get better. Dave Grohl could have easily fallen into Nirvana and Kurt Cobain's shadow, but he didn't. "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace" is an amazing album, and "Long Road to Ruin" is IMO the best song of the year thus far.

I would say it is more of a contractual obligation thing... I really hope it's not otherwise, and I'd highly doubt it anyways... I'm not a Greatest Hits album sorta guy so I won't be buying it.... but I am excited to see what they do next...

Grohl is probably a better guitarist (and better at whatever else he plays) than Cobain as well as a better vocalist but until he starts utilizing this I'm not going to say his music's better.

I'm hoping for the contract option because "Wheels" is a terrible song and I don't think its indicitive of their best work.

I do fear that they are moving toward bland, pat glory-rock though. "hero," "best of you," and "wheels" are all kinda that same big, boring, hollow riRAB.

They need a return to form like REM had.

Got the new album when it was released on Monday. Excellent effort I think. Both CRAB are awesome especially the acoustic one though, it brings a whole new meaning to the band. It was a risky experiment but they certainly pulled it off. I recommend it to anyone who hasn't bought it yet, great stuff. Opinions?

This is true. And I know we're all here to discuss music, so it's all good. I guess I'm just a lover, not a fighter (or even a debater for that matter). :) I agree with you in that I don't think just anyone could make the same "simple radio rock" that Foo Fighters make. Even though they might not be a completely original band, I think they have an at least semi-unique sound. When I hear a Foo song on the radio, I don't get it confused with any other banRAB. I know it's them. But maybe that's just me.

I think we should all just say "screw it" and go have a drink together. :thurab:

I really like them. They are outside my normal taste range but along with Coldplay, Damien Rice, andThird Eye Blind, I listen to them quite regularly.

Too bad something like this isn't really up for debate. If you'd said "Grohl's voice has no character to it and doesn't sound special, I prefer Cobain" that would be an opinion. Saying "Cobain is a stronger vocalist than Grohl" isn't an opinion, that's a statement that's either true or false and in this case it's very false. It's not even up for debate as to who the more superior vocalist is. You don't need to comment on every single thing someone posts, especially if your comment is completely useless/incorrect.

I never said he was a bad drummer, but he's guitar playing is average but then again Kurt wasn't that great either, but he was an amazing song writer and singer.
