Foo Fighters

Then "radio friendly" is a bad thing I presume? Should they litter their music with excessive profanities and sing about f*cking hoes and how George Bush is a bastard. The only thing that separates "radio friendly" music from the rest is the fact that it is popular enough to get lots of play. Even un-radio friendly music gets edited and makes it on the air if it is popular enough. Being popular has somehow become synonymous with being a sell-out or being formulaic (I realize you didn't say all this, I'm just throwing it out there).

And I agree with you that many Foo Fighters albums are full of filler, but the hits from the albums surely overshadow it. While there are some CD's where every track is a gem, they are few and far between, regardless of genre.

not necessarily. more often than not 'best of' albums are contractual obligations. how long has it been since the last time they put out an album? when is the next one planned?

if the answer is more than 2-3 years it's compilation time. just to keep the name out there and the revenue moving. plus it's a great stocking stuffer. that. or they want to change labels and are just filling out their obligations to their old one. the chili peppers did this in the mid 90s and released a 'best of' and a 'b-sides collection' at the same time to switch from emi to warner or something like that.

Foo Fighters are strange. They are a good band but with their songs I either love them or don't like them at all. One of my fav. songs of all time though is Everlong. I also love Times Like These and Best Of You.

A very overlooked Foo Fighters track in my opinion. I really dig the long middle section/outro.
