folders in Apple computer?

My work and personal computer are both apple and both use snow leapoard

I was wondering if there was a feature already in snow leapoard, or some simple program I could get, that would make certain folders secure (i.e.. need a password to open the folder and see inside...also that would prevent a word document that's in that folder from being opened, even if it were "seen" (i.e.. in recent documents)
