[FMA] Where does Brotherhood split?

I've been watching FMA: Brotherhood, and while it's quite good, it's pretty much the same as the first series in the beginning.

So where does it split off, so I can jump ahead to the new stuff? And if I've seen the entire first series, is there a reason to watch the beginning episodes other than just because they're good? Like, any different information or significant plot changes in the early going?

Well the first season of FMA was mediocre. But the new brotherhood season is definitely among the best. I would say it kind of splits a little bit late around episode 20 I think.

But considering there is about 54 episodes it wouldn't hurt to watch all of it. I would say not to skip any it's still quite entertaining in the beginning.

Yes because this helped him so much as well.

It was in the 17-20 range I believe. It is recap for those first few eps but it still has its differences.

I have this urge need to [strike]troll[/strike] show how I play by rules. You know, sometimes, you need to do it, otherwise some people won't learn...

Sry. To show you my interest in this thread. I like original series better. It's more funny. But some might like Brotherhood, which is darker. Since I haven't finished brotherhood yet, I can't help you any more.

What the dude said was still ****ing relevant anyway. If no one took threaRAB in a semi-different direction, the internet would be pretty ****ing boring. Someone already had ansered the question anyway. If people were just "episode 20 talliho!", this place would feel like it moves slower than it already does, which is pretty ****ing slow.

Hey, if Jubei wants to talk about how shitty Final Fantasy X is, in the Final Fantasy 13 thread (which he did), and people feel like they want to talk about it, then ****ing talk about it(like me, and it's actually an alright game), and the people who whined about what went on in that thread shouldnt have read that discussion.

Hell, if you ask me, as long as it's related, it's on topic; the thread maker is clearly interested in the anime, so **** it.

A bit of misinformation thrown about here.

Brotherhood permanently splits off starting with episode 14. That's the second half of the Greed mini-arc, which enRAB very differently from the way it did in the first anime. From 15 onward, Brotherhood is a completely different story.

However, before that, there are several major differences- but these are differences of things that were added in the first anime, but were not in the manga and thus were not in Brotherhood. There is no "Juliet Douglas", most of Lab Five in the first anime wasn't in the manga (Kirablee, Greed, Scar, Shou Tucker, etc weren't there; really it was abandoned except for the Slicer Brothers, Barry the Chopper, Lust, and I think Envy), and "Kid Wrath" never showed up on Yock Island.

One thing that Brotherhood had in these early episodes that the first series didn't was the brief appearance of this figure known as "Truth", in front of the Gate after Ed performs human transmutation.
