ya know, i was simply wondering exactly "where' that fluid accumulation appears to be located around that calf area? is this much further "up" like at the top area almost behind the knees or down further from there? this would make some differences just in what this could even be stemming from? since like i mentioned above in my other post, anything that is in the legs as far as fluid goes, if it is not actually even pulling downward and into the ankles by mere gravitational pull down(esp over THAT much time having it there at all) it would just HAVE TO be a very 'contained or compatrtmentalized" type of 'pocket of fluid at all do just do this?
its only that i personally experienced what is referred to more plainly as a 'bakers cyst"(or the actual name called a 'poplitial cyst") that was much more behind the knee area than actually IN the calf, but depending upon just where a possible 'synovial tear" can take place with the types of repetitive movements of knees, it could have torn like more under that inner synovium an that synoviam just IS the "capsule" of normal fluid that does surround like every single even tiniest joint we have in our bodies that is needed to just keep that ball and socket completely lubricated fully in ANY given joint at all? i am just wondering how many real inner layers the synovial sac actually has since when my B cyst showed itself behind MY knee, and trust me it was HUGE since synovial fluid is more a constantly generated fluid in the sac/joint level, while i mpost definitely had a good sized tear towards the back of that sac, it STILL held itself together enough to actually form that "pocket" of fluid there too, but stayed directly behind my knee like between golf ball and base ball size by the time it just HAD to be fixed, and 'solid" without alot of real 'give' when it was pushed into too, so it WAS still contained within that sac but actually, becasue when losing an inner layer of anything, it allows that sac to actually stretch out and can elongate among other things which could place this right into that upper calf area too? do you get what i am sayin here?
while getting only one B cyst is always a possible when overly using knees or moving them the wrong way when esp doing that stepping excercise like she was simply doing like over and over and over again, it could actually have occured in both synoviums at some point as well? this is just one very real type of injury to moreso within the knees that actually 'could' have created an elongated type of cyst that would at least 'be" somewhat within that calf level and actually still be "contained" as well that would tend to take that area of least resistance if the tears were simply actually located more towards the bottom area, vs the area behind the knee like mine was?
this was just something that popped into my head when thinking about the 'possibles' as to where in the heck that fluid could have even come from? i am wondering if they could just try and aspirate out a bit of fluid there and check the nomal synovial color which is a darker/straw colored yellow and also test what that fluid simply contains which would definitely indicate just what the cysts themselves actually consist of as far as what type of real 'fluid' is in them?
my particular dx was made by my orthosurgeon along with an MRI that showed a ton of my damage and how the cyst structures just were in there too? this just truely IS one really huge possibility here. it would just be, i would think anyways given what has to actually take place by tearing that synovium within the inner layers, or even one layer, of that surrounding capsule somehow(at least ONE inner layer that would create that spot to become much weaker), while rare, anything just IS indeed possible when it comes to what can simply occur within the human body under the right conditions or with some congenital defect we simply are or can be born with too? she could also have some type of predisposistion within both knees that is simply how HER actual knees/ joints and surrounding tissue just is too?
but that synovium i think would actually be the closest type of structure to that calf that just DOES contain fluid that just can do what she is now experiencing. it just NEEDS to be looked into as a possible here at the very least to be ruled in or out as the potential source that keeps that fluid goin inside that calf area that just HAS to be contained like this whole entire time or it just WOULD have simply been 'pulled downwards" after all this much time has passed?
seeing her doc for this and the other testing would be a really good idea, along wioth possibly obtaining good MRIs done on the knees just to really see inside them to look for ANY type of damage which also can create fluid accumulation from simple inflammation too or tear to the synovial sacs? it would show that 'fluid" in her calves actually interconnected TO the area surrounding her knee if this was indeed what i am thinking here? this just IS a 'something" that could be creating what she has. i never had any real pain just 'from' that cyst, even when i pressed into it? just other pain from all my ongoing and very inflammed types of actual damage.
but DO get her in to see her primary for the other stuff i mentioned and see what her docs actual eval is and ask for the MRIs or at least a referral to a really good ortho for his eval and testing that he can do in his office, or HIM actually ordering the MRIs if her doc refuses to simply even do this? its just as you already do know here, something is just 'not right' in that area and does need to be found out, the sooner the better since it has been way too long already. and of course, please DO keep me posted. good luck, FB
