Fluctuating 91 signal

My 91 signal is fluctuating from 0 to 70 non stop today ( a very windy day ). There is a tree close to its view of the satellite and I think it may have finally grown into its path and the wind is just amplifying it today.

My 82 signal is a steady 80 and never changes.

Is it possible for this tree to affect only my 91 signal?

I've realigned the dish and tried a different LNB, with the same results.
 
I'm guessing that the tree is to the right of the dish, if looking from behind the dish?
If you answered yes then there is a very good possibility the tree has grown enough to block the signal
 
Yes it is possible that the tree is affecting only satellite 91. The two satellites are spaced 9 degrees apart so the line of sight signal blockage could be marginal to none for 82 and total for 91.

From what you described, it definitely seems like the tree is the culprit. Better get up there and trim...
 
You have 2 choices, move the dish or trim the offending branch from the tree.

You could also switch to *C or cable. ;)
 
The tree is to the right of the dish, if i am behind the dish. So it seems like the tree is the problem.

It's the neighbors tree so I can't trim it. Looks like I will move my dish.
 
Odds are the tree would still be an issue, as it is causing trouble for 91, and *choice is around 111?
Get out the chainsaw, and make some firewood!:o
 
If I were to raise the dish, would that fix the problem? It is currently on my deck railing and I was thinking of moving it to the roof of the house.

It would gain at least 6 feet in height if I were to do that. I've been here for 5 years and just now am getting interference from the tree, I would think 6 extra feet of height would surpass whatever the tree grew in the last 5 years.

If the tree isn't too tall, and it is only the top that is blocking it now, then the extra 6' should do the trick, for a few years...
 
You would be better off moving the dish sideways, away from the tree. Putting the dish on the roof makes it more difficult to access and roofs are sometimes not stable enough to secure a dish properly. Never mind the leaks it might cause down the road. :o
 
dish could have been moved faster than typing this thread.
Roof is fine if its secure, and easy to seal. I bolted a treated 2x12" board between roof joists and put the dish mount on it. Used a tube of roofing chaulking.
 
I noticed that my signal seems to get knocked out quite easily. should I move my dish?

I think I have a similar problem. I've lost the channels on sat 91 a couple of weeks ago. I've looked up and all the cables seem fine. I did the "check switch" in the insallation menu and it says error "check connections" and there's a X in the last box to the right.

I think one the trees in the street may have become too big and is blocking my signal. However, those trees are city property and I definitely can't trim them. I also live in a appartment block and I don't have a ladder to check the dish...

When I contacted Bell about the problem they said they would charge me 75$ if they send a tech to check. :o

Am I right to think that the only viable is solution to somehow get myself a ladder and move the dish?
 
Whygee - you could be running into another common issue where, usually the connector, is causing you to lose all odd or all even transponders. There are a number of threads on that topic. It could simply be a bad connector, and hopefully one that you have easy access to.
