FLRT Wind Deflector Kit

I happened to pick this up for my FLTRU @ my dealer Sat morning before my road trip. http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448775791&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302491575&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302491575&bmUID=1283862804639&bmLocale=en_US

They do make a difference in the wind around the tank. Now @ highway speeds, just forward of the tank, there is a very clean updraft between the fairing and the bars. Kind of hard to describe. What was funny is that suicide bugs are getting sucked up through the area between the fairing and forks and shoot up through this wind funnel. I do think the turbulence is lessened somewhat from this area. Also, can lean forward and get a nice breeze on my face when I want it.

Anyone else have these or tried them and have comments?

Yep. I like mine too - not a monumental change but is noticeable. You're right too about tank induced updraft being shifted forward closer to the fairing/windshield instead of onto the upper torso of the driver. For instance, I ride with an untucked t-shirt. The previous heavy draft FWD from the sides and it's associated blousing effect is gone plus smokes stay in my pocket now.

I bought a set for my 2010 FLTRU. I had to return.... My bike had the recall on Gas tank
bracket. They will NOT fit my bike. I see that they have a notice on that now.....hdman

I've heard that some "roadies" with the tank mod got them installed (sort of). They just pierced the plastic wing in that upper c-clip area and made do with some zip-ties at the top.

I've also heard that these puppies don't do a damn thing for RG guys who've added lowers or those who've added that inverted scoop deal onto the bottom of their triple-tree.

For me though, it's the best $30 I've ever spent on HD part. Of course, how many HD parts are out there for $30 anyway.

+1 for the wind deflectors. I think by deflecting the air up it changes the low preasure area behind the windshiled as well as blocking air that goes around the tank. Not gonaa give ya the completely still pocket that some seem to desire on a motorcycle? I have the tank change but there is an easy fix. Get 2 bolts that are 1/2" or 5/8" longer along with a 1/2" bushing. I used a chromwe bushing but any will do. Pull off the plastic tabs coveringthe tank bolts. Pull thebolts. Replace with your nes longer bolts putting the bushing on the outside of the tank. The top of the deflector will now pop right on to you 1/2 bushing. Clean, easy no zip ties needed. Suprised Harley has not thought of this and maxde it an additional kit to buy.
