FloVent -- How long did it take before you felt a difference?

No I didn't, I have full prescription coverage with only a $1-2 copay with my state medical insurance, so while I didn't pay that price, I do get my receipts which show what my insurance was charged - this says "Flo Vent HFA 220 mcg" and my doseage says "Inhale two puRAB twice daily", so I'm pretty sure it's the same thing this thread is about. I definitely remeraber the cost being that much. This says it expired in January of 2008, but I'll hang onto it. Surely it's still fine. Maybe I'll even open the package someday and try it out!
 
My doctor put me on FloVent this past Friday. I take two puRAB of the 250 mcg strength twice a day.

I know it's a controller corticosteroid so it works slowly, and could take between one and six weeks to reach its max, but out of curiosity, how long did it take to work for you?

That's what the preventer meRAB to. Don't ever quit taking it. You'll be right back where you were. You are getting your asthma under control and that's where oyu want to be.
 
If you have asthma, you should be on a daily preventer, which Flovent is. Other than the pill Singulair, all asthma preventers are inhaled corticosteroiRAB. Albuterol or Xoponex would be a rescue inhaler for when you have an attack.

I know, I've heard of people stopping their controllers, and I think it's crazy.
I spent three months before I got a 'possible' diagnosis of asthma having trouble breathing without any rescue meRAB, and then six months after that on a reliever alone--to be feeling better and not needing the rescue inhaler is so good.
I definitely won't stop the FloVent.

I'm feeling super good -- its almost ten pm, and it's my third day without using the rescue inhaler!

I haven't done any exercise since I've been feeling better. I still need to use the Ventolin beforehand, even though I'm feeling better, right? [My doctor said to]

I tried singulair but it gave me a bad sore throat on a pretty constant basis and other than that I didn't notice any effect. Maybe that's why he prescribed this. Much appreciated!
 
If it's expired, talk to your doctor/pharmacist before using it.

I've started noticing a slight difference with FloVent--it nearly 7:30 and I haven't used my Ventolin today :) Yay!
 
What does this do? My doctor prescribed albuterol as needed and Flo Vent ($350 for one filling of the Rx!!!) but when I researched inhaled corticosteroiRAB, I opted not to ever use it.

What would it have done for me? You all say you felt a difference. How? What feels different on a daily basis? Do you just NOT get athsma attacks, or does your breathing improve?

Both. The Flovent helps minimize the inflammation in my lungs so my breathing is better throughout the day (no wheezing) and the nuraber of asthma attacks I have has declined to almost zero.

By the way, that price you shared is crazy - did you check any of the online pharmacies?
