Flippity!

So I was driving with Unspun and her two daughters and I started to drift. Unspun alerted me by saying "Watch out!" I meant to just turn my steering wheel slightly but it went way more than that and it was out of control. One of the wheels hit the cement curb on the median and that is how we ended up.

Littlest girl and I were hanging upside down. She was totally unhurt. I just sustained a cut/bump on my neck, my neck muscles hurt and I am sore. I had a cat scan and am fine.

Unspun hit her head pretty damn hard and had a cat scan and now has a prescrip (no, you can't have any).

The oldest daughter took her seat belt off minutes before the crash so she rolled around and put her hand through the side window. She got three stitches and a good life lesson about seatbelts.

Anyway that was the scariest day of my life. I feel awful about what I put everybody through, I have no car, a ticket and a shitload of upcoming bills.

I'm glad you guys were not seriously hurt. I can't imagine how scary that was to be in a crash that severe. Accidents happen and I hope you can forgive yourself. :happysad:

Wow thats nasty man! Dont worry about the bills and such atleast you are all alive! Shame about the car though! But really, you should be drifting on the tracks or on the side of a mountain! :)

Damn...I've done some crazy things, but never rolled a car. That would be interesting.

Glad you're all relatively OK! Seatbelts save lives, and prevent serious injuries!

I've been in a couple of crashes, and have never felt more idiotic and inept than after an accident. Glad to hear everyone's okay and that there were no serious injuries.

I do have to ask: what was the ticket for?

The ticket was for wreckless driving. I think it's bullshit that accidents happen and even though you're paying enough for your mistake (IE insurance going up, hospital bills and possible court fees if someone sues) the government still thinks they should get a piece of the action.

I tried to have my insurance cover our hospital bills but because I wasn't the one driving they said they would deny the claim unless Darky's insurance doesn't cover a portion, THEN my insurance will kick in. SO we're going to be putting the insurance in my name, because I've never been in a wreck and she's already been in 2-I think- so I think that will help with the bills.

I watched everything happen. Probably a dumb move on my part but I couldn't stop looking around as the car was flipping. I watched the roof cave in, I watched the windsheild break, I watched my head hit the side of the door (I thought "Ouch SHIT") and for some odd reason I knew everyone was going to be OK, which doesn't make any sense considering we just fucking flipped but w/e.

I signed a refusal for treatment so I could ride in the ambulance with my kids. I got checked out at the hospital afterwards, and my cat scan came up perfect, so they just wrote me a prescrip for vicodin and sent me on my way. Poor Lana was just hanging upside down looking around very confused. She didn't cry at all, she's a trooper just like her mom.

Just to clarify...by "drift", you mean wander to the side? Nowadays when the word "drift" is associated with a vehicle, it usually means the back end swinging out, and the vehicle is kinda going sideways.

I just don't see how you could inadvertently "drift" on dry pavement...not saying it's impossible, just quite unlikely.

Honestly wtf do you think she meant?? You're thinking "drifting" which is a term used in vehicular racing, OBVIOUSLY we are not referring to that. Use your fucking brain. Originally the term "drifting" applied to the car slowly veering in a direction other than the course intended.

I'm really glad you're all ok. I've never flipped, but once I spun out and slammed into a tree. That was the most intense and frightening 5 seconds of my life. My accident was caused by drifting too, but the other kind that Hermit is talking about.

Whoa... jeez. That's what I said.

Vicky, in post four, refered to drifting in the autosports sense. I thought there was someone else, too, but now I don't see that.

I do use my brain. I didn't, in any way, mean to say that darkling was being reckless and purposely swinging the back end out.

Glad you two and the kids are okay.

I'm thinking that Darkling might be able to fight the ticket. I don't see why not. Worst case scenario is that they don't rule in your favor of dropping it.

I'm guessing it went something like this:

Spunny: DAYUM, look at that guy's ass!

Darkling: Where?!?

Spunny: Right over there.

Darkling: Oh... OHHHH... damn! I wouldn't kick him out of the bed for eating crackers.

Spunny: Oh SHIT! Look out!

:sgrin:
