Flightplan --- what a pile!

Just got to watch this movie this week, and I have to say it was tripe! I mean, how big was this airliner supposed to be? They made it out to be larger than the current world's biggest airliner, the A380 --- Christ, it was like running though the QE2 at times!
And WHAT was the point of her being the hostage? So she knew about aircraft engines. They never used this in the film, neither the writers nor the bad guy --- what was the significance of her knowing about the plane? She could find her way around, yes, but that was VERY peripheral to what she did. And why was her husband murdered? Why had it to be HER child, and where was the connection to, well, anything??
It was made a big revelation that her husband had been killed, and that it HAD to be her that was on that plane. So they put the detonator in his coffin. Couldn't they have done that with ANY body? How many corpses do airlines carry in a week? And even if it had to be HIS corpse, why not just go get the timer or whatever it was? Why did they need to capture her daughter?
And how did so many people conveniently "forget" that she came onboard with a child?
Finally, why was it called "Flightplan". when the plot (such as it was) had nothing to do with where the plane went?
My god, you could fly a 747 through the plot-holes in that movie!
Terrible, just terrible!
That said, Foster acted well, but even she couldn't hold this pile of cr@p tigether. What a waste of time!
Anyone else see this, and think the same/different?

I don't remember much about this, but similarly to Red Eye I was intrigued by the concept. And just like Red Eye, I felt like a mug by the end. In both films, the start of the film held my interest, but by the end, I just wanted it to finish.

I will watch anything with Jodie Foster in it cos I think shes a great actress.

Ok there were numerous anomolies in the movie, but I did miss them cos I was too busy watching Ms Foster.

Arent I sad? :p:p:p

I saw this on BBC1 the other night and I agree.

It started off as a taught almost spooky thriller, that then descended into the biggest load of old ridiculous tripe during the second half.

In fact the BBC should be ashamed for buying this rubbish!

Did no one watch it before signing the cheque?

I remember seeing this at the cinema when it came out. It's a ludicrous piece of work. The key thing that makes a film like this work is realism (within its particular flight of fantasy) and logical consistency. Apart from Jodie Foster's acting, it has nothing to recommend it.

*ahem*

Inside man
The Brave One
Panic Room

Having said that, she doesn't do a lot of movies anyway, it seems she'll settle for nothing less than the lead. Which for a female Hollywood actress in a male dominated business can only be applauded.

lol :D

Panic Room?

Really?

I suppose it shows you what a subjective medium film is.

Either that or I have no taste!

But then I liked the first Mortal Kombat.

*leaves thread* :o

Panic Room is fantastic!

Flightplan is alright but yes if you think too much there are thousanRAB of plotholes. I enjoyed it for what it was and it entertained me but I wouldn't watch it again.

The mortal kombat films are entertaining as was the streetfighter movie. Certainly no worse than those Harry Potter films or the bored of the rings franchise.
