Whoops! Thanks for pointing that out. I meant CAT SCAN, not X-ray!
And the doctor's only advice was fleet enema.

The foods aren't a joke...those things usually make me poo.

*sips coffee*

Wow, I like quadruple-posted. I've annoyed myself.

Ask your doctor what you should be taking.

Some foods and medicines will make your condition worse.

But hey, if you want to be a fucking idiot and live the rest of your life with a colostomy bag, keep asking other idiots on the Internet for medical advice when you have the ability to ask a doctor.

Magnesium Citrate looks like this. The lime flavor tastes the best. You can find it over the couter at your local drugstore.

I've worked in a pharmacy, and I know this is what the doctor would recommend for it. If you're able to get it out using this, then you won't have to use an enema.

I ALREADY said her only advice was the fleet enema; I asked about laxatives and shit, and she said, "Don't bother; the fleet will get it all out in one try."

This thread was really supposed to be a "wow-your-full-of-shit-haha-on-you-try-chili" kinda thing...wasn't expecting dead serious answers, actually.

Merci >.

When it comes to health issues/concerns we try to take them seriously.

If the situation is this dire and your doctor won't even help you out with some advice to help you poo before the enema is required, you might want to think about a different doctor. If not now then in the future because that's pretty lame not to give you at least a list of remedies that might help you in the meantime.

You can change doctors. But I don't know why she didn't tell you or prescribe you some kind of laxative.

An enema takes a few minutes an is easy to do.

You should find a doctor you are comfortable with. If a doctor doesn't have time to talk to you one-on-one about your concerns, how is that doctor really going to be able to help you? You are the patient and you need to be able to get all your concerns out in order for a doctor to really be able to help you.

An enema really doens't take long, but it's just a matter of holding out as long as you can up to about 15 minutes. You just feel like taking a poop REALLY badly. If it helps to feel a little better about inserting somethign in to your butt, put a little k-y jelly on it...only a little, but you may feel a little less stressed about entering your out door with a foreign object. There are other options out there than an enema, but an enema is the fastest way to get your contents out of your system.

It also might help if you have a girlfriend or mom or sister do it for you. You can do enemas yourself but its uncomfortable.

But, I agree with Bitch. If your doctor isn't helping you, find a good one.

I just know that with some inflammations, stomach, and/or intestinal problems you should NOT be taking laxatives at all.

Laxatives also interfere with some medications.

I'm not a big laxative user, and I don't think they should be used all willy nilly like people use them nowadays as they can cause harm like long term ibuprofen or acetaminophen use can. Just because its over the counter doesn't mean that it is safe to use without talking to a doctor about it.

Also, if you have a colon blockage and you take laxatives or you take too much laxatives you can increase the inflammation and cause permanent damage to your colon.

Constipation symptoms, causes, and treatments including laxatives and an approach to the evaluation and treatment of constipation.

If all your doctor would say is to use is an enema, then I would look at getting a different doctor. Magnesium citrate is just as effective as an enema. It is not as instant, but it will clean you out just as well. I can't believe that your doctor said not to bother with other laxatives. An enema is not the only way to clear up a blockage.

If you go the enema route be sure to post about it.

There's this girl that's trying to get me to try an enema. She's one of those 'back-door girls', you know.

Like fuck I'm not going to do it but I'll read about it.
