Flashing question!!

I was thinking, in the near future, to flash a UT Starcom 6700 on my own.

Would this be possible, because I have a highly moderate amount of computer knowledge. I know there is a topic on flashing the phone, but the questions is: If I follow the instructions, point for point, will I be successful flashing the phone.

I know that it sounRAB like I answered my own question, but remeraber, I have never flashed a phone before. Would the flashing be easy, or would I be better off letting someone else do it?

well that is a really nice phone and if you never flashed a phone before than it will be a little hard but it can always be done........ there is a lot of info about this phone on here so just search and you will find it

if you need any help just let me know

There is a very helpful tutorial provided by badutahboy at cricket-mafia.com

I was in the same boat as you--had never flashed any phone before, but was confident in other technical knowledge. I learned a lot by reprogramming the 6700, and the process really wasn't all that difficult. You'll be fine.

Thanks so much. I was expecting someone to be real harsh and say, "If you follow the instructions on anything, then it'll work."

Thanks for understanding, by the way, I'm sixteen and pretty new to this.

You'll be fine programming that phone on your own. And if you run into any trouble, I am willing to help, just as people were willing to help me.

Thanks above poster, I really, and truly appreciate that.

Where can I find good deals on the phone though? I tried eBay, and I think I'll buy one from eBay, but I wanted to see if anyone knew where I could get a better deal on the phone.

Craigslist and eBay are your best bets. I don't recommend spending over $150, because you WILL be able to get one for that much, if not less. My suggestion for eBay is to get an Alltel PPC-6700. For one reason or another, they're about $50 cheaper.

Here's a good search to type into the eBay search box: (6700,xv6700,ppc6700,ppc-6700) -sprint -battery -case -charger -stylus -cable -protector

It may also be handy to go to the Buy It Now tab and sort by lowest priced.

^ Where was you when I was purchasing my xv6700.

Simple instructions are right here on this forum no need to go anywhere else. Just manually load the PRL and that's it! Took me only 1 minute.
