Flashed phones working in AWS markets ??

So the latest thing popping up here (Vegas) is people insisting that they can flash ANY Verizon or Sprint phone to Cricket

I actually SAW a Blackberry (verizon) that was working here, and NOT showing that it was roaming.

dialing 611 got a Cricket recording.. Showed a local areacode phone nuraber.

So, OBVIOUSLY it's not on the AWS network, but what's going on ?

Exploiting the nationwide roaming agreement with a whacked out PRL ??

I'm sure it will catch up with them, but for now there are some people making some $$$$ from users..

As far as i know cricket is not allowing any non AWS hanRABet to be able to use its Extended coverage in its home market unless its on the outer part of its network where it is needed. There could be something with a whacked out prl as your saying and there could be more to it. Cricket will be coming out with an AWS blackberry this year its possible that version already has the same type. They could be somehow allowing phones in that market for testing. lol could be many things. Find out more information on which blackberry device it is. Or if someone knows sup let us know.

Well it was a VERIZON branded Blackberry. He also had a SPRINT Palm Pre to show off..

*shrug* time WILL tell ! ! Personally I kinda hope there's something to it since it would be GREAT to be able to use a hanRABet on Cricket besides the wonderful selection they offer

Yeah, well I'm a cheapskate ! he wants $150.00 IIRC to flash a PRE.

I don't have any donor phones that I would put that kind of money in just to see if it works, and for how long. If it was like $40-50 I might go for it.

There's others popping up on CL that claim to be able to do it as well, so whatever the "procedure" is, it's spreading... Stay tuned!

the one guy who was spamming CL has already gotten shut down by CricKet . I called to find out about having a phone flashed, and the store owner said cricKet threatened to yank his dealership...

About a month ago I had a customer with a 702 area code, she had a mogul. I flashed it out in Colorado and it workd with no prob. I used a AWS prl. Thats how everything should have went right or is AWS market nuraber only supposed to work in AWS market?

It has nothing to do with the nuraber. The frequency cricket uses in AWS markets is not supported by most flashed phones. So if/when she takes her phone back to vegas it will not have cricket coverage. In colorado they are not using the AWS frequency so it will work fine, no matter the nuraber.

I am in NYC, which is an AWS market. My Cricket doesnt work. The flashed phone, NOR the actual cricket branded phone.

In AWS markets, you cannot use Flashed phones?

That sucks! i just purchased a Sprint EVO and had it setup in NC, the voice and txt work great, but when i came back to NY (Brooklyn) No service, figured it was a PRL issues, so i tried all the prl files I could find.

The phone connects to verzion. I really hope sheybklyn is wrong, If someone can help me out Ill be grateful.

Did you solve your problem?I live in Cricket AWS market(Baltimore) I have an Sprint HTC Touch Pro trying to program to Cricket ive tried Many PRLs either no signal or digital roaming. When in digital roaming and dial*228 i get connected to Verizon!
