Flash lags a lot, the file size is too big need help.?

I use flash 8, my fla size is 7,120 kb my .swf size is 2,710 flash lags and freezes a lot when im working on my game, i havent added music yet, is there anyway to make flash not lag as much? i always save and compact.
Also, i already have a pre-loader.
