Flash drive won't work?

It's an Attache 512MB flash drive. It's worked fine until yesterday. I plugged it in, and my avast! antivirus said it had a virus and trojan horse on it, so I permanently deleted them, put some files on it, but now it won't work. It's been tested on three computers running XP and Vista, and will not work on any of them. On my Vista laptop, the light will flash a few times then go out, or if I restart it and put it in the certain USB port, the light will stay on. When I plug it in it makes the little device-has-been-plugged-in sound, and and in My Computer "Removable Disk (E:)" shows up instead of the name of the flash drive (XB28W or something like that, I don't really know), and when I click on it it says, "Please insert a disk into Removable Disk (E:)."
