I recently got a 16 gig flash drive to back up my itunes library. I plugged it into my computer, put all the data on it, and then brought it to my parents computer so i could put the songs on the itunes on that computer, too. once i plugged it in, it started heating up really fast, and it never showed up on the computer. i later tried it again on my computer once it had cooled down, and it still didn't work. i returned the flash drive and got a new one, and its done the same thing. anyone know what the deal is? (no, sticking it in the freezer doesnt help.)

Someone wired the usb on your parents pc incorrectly. It could be the positive and negative on the board connection is wrong. I would suggest in any event NOT using the usb on your parents pc for ANY usb device. Apparently, you are using a front usb port on their pc. You might try using one of the ports on the back that are directly mounted to the mobo.
