fix timing chain ford explorer xls 4 litre v6 ?

the quote was from ford in canada for 3000 cdn dollars is this a high quote it is a 2000 thanks for any information
this is not my vehicle but I know there is timing chains front and back there was a recall for this but milage is too high 200,000 kms
 
do you have the 4.0L SOHC or 4.0L. If its the 4.0L SOHC it has 4 chains to replace and a very involved job.
 
If you're timing belt snapped then ya that sounds about right because it probably bent valves in your engine and requires a rebuild

If it's just to replace the time belt (which usually you replace the water pump then as well) then ya that is very high that should be about a 500 dollar job tops
