Though I admit I should have also mentioned censorship in my OP, but as I said it was a bit of a rant.
 
If it's censorship you do not approve of then actually I agree with you -I am capable of choosing what I want to watch or not. However when movies are shown at particular times they should (and do) have to be appropriate to the possible audience.
 
I do love how if any sensible debate goes on for too long someone just has to do the 'this is just the way nazi germany started' argument. The other thing I love is it always applies to minor things and never gets used when discussing such things as genocide in far off corners of the world. Of course as was said, you might have been joking. I hope so!

I case you weren't I'd reply that I agree that revisionist history is bad but to my mind that only applies when making films today in which, if the film purports to be an accurate historical record, such things are glossed over. The problem with applying that principle to films made some time ago is that they're being shown now and so can offend now unnecessarily.
