fissured/geographic tongue

I am writing this on behalf of my friend, who is suffering the misery of fissured tongue. It has lasted several months. She has seen doctors, specialists, homeopath and been on Aloe vera juice. Nothing has helped at all. Her tongue is very sore, cracked and painful. There is no sign of improvement from the aloe or homeopathic remedies. Such things as possible allergies, vitamin deficiencies, and poor health have been suggested. It has been diagnosed as 'fissured' and/or 'geographic' tongue (is there a difference?). I would be very grateful for any suggestions, cures, experiences and remedies that have been found to help this horrible condition and get my friend on the road to recovery. Thank you!

Has your friend tried L-Lisine? It's available in the vitamin section of most drug stores. My mother and I had something similar to what you describe and this helped us greatly. Also, I found that cutting back on acidic things such as pineapple, tomatoes, chocolate, and spicy foods helped also. What a miserable problem to deal with--I'm sorry for your friend. Hope it clears up quickly!
