I am fishing a 56 ft max depth power plant lake in N.East Texas with crystal clear water and heavy hydrilla. The plant is running, so the water temp is 81-84 degrees. what color would you recommend, what style?
Damn. that's hot. LM bass can't handle those temps. you're going to have to go deep with a jig or jigging spoon.find a temp range between 67 and 72 degrees. use a big jig with a craw trailer or a jigging spoon resembling any shad or other baitfish (colorwise) that are in the lake. you probably have massive die-offs in this lake so the bass will hang low waiting for a dying fish to drift down to it's level.
probably got a lot of big fat catfish too.
a chrome kastmaster of about an ounce should get some decent bass.
dead shad will nail the cats.
surface temp should be fine for carp or tilapia. tilapia can handle 90 degree water with no ill effects
